The Madison is the younger sibling of the Mehlville, which was our very first carabiner and continues to be a constant best-seller. Like the Mehlville, the Madison features a machined two-compartment design to keep your keys securely attached—even when getting the Madison on or off a belt loop. The Madison is machined from billet aluminum or titanium, delivering a high strength-to-weight ratio. The thinner design of the Madison means that it always hangs straight; there’s no side-to-side rocking happening here. With less bulk, the Madison is lightweight, functional, and beautiful. How do you take a good concept and make it better? This was the challenge with the Madison: take the Mehlville, and make it smaller without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality. The Madison shares the same faceted design language in a more minimal, slim profile. It’s only one belt loop wide, meaning it hangs straight all the time, and keeps your keys and other essentials secure and at the ready.

We tasked the design team with taking the general thinking behind the Mehlville and making it smaller. We lost the bottle opener and reduced the width substantially, following the design cues from our Holcombe carabiner. The result is a low-profile carabiner that always presents straight; there’s no sag on your belt loop. Our two-compartment design separates the attachment gate from the gate that holds your key ring, making it darn near impossible to lose your keys when you attach the Madison to your belt loop. The Madison is machined out of billet 6063-T5 aluminum, making it lightweight, strong and durable. It’s offered in a number of anodized aluminum finishes.

Have only used the carabiner for a day and has extreme signs of wear on the compartment that holds the keyring. Was afraid of this happening on the black color so I opted for the silver however the same issue seems to have presented itself. For 50 dollars I would assume the paint job would last more than a day.
Other minor issues I have had with the design is that the corners on the inner part of the compartment is extremely sharp when sliding in your keys. Ive had several scratches on me and my clothes from the carabiner
The spring latch itself is very odd as it doesn't open in a fluid motion. I have to exert a large amount of force to push open the first part of the gate and then the rest will open smoothly. I'm not sure if this is intentional on this particular design but on the hardin the spring latch opens very smooth.
Lastly the material is aluminum which feels lighter than i expected.

The Titanium Madison is Awesome, I Love how thin and lightweight it is. Very Durable and Easy to Clip on and Off, It adds No Added Weight to my Shorts or Jeans with my House Keys and SUV Keys on it. The Carabiner is Amazingly lightweight and Smooth Opening and Closing. I have Various Different Colors of The Madison Carabiner because it’s My Favorite for it’s Thinness and Durability.

Got the “butter” color (essentially gold and silver) it looks great, maybe a little lighter weight than I was hoping for, but it’s aluminum so…what should I expect. I like it though

Let me start by saying the carbiner for the most part is wonderfully designed. It is one of the smaller ones I've had that actually feels secure and well made. The locking gate is a double edged sword as it can be sharp when moving the gates lower portion with the actual key rings. My rating is partially lower due to this but that is minor compared to the disappointing finish durability. I bought the James keyrings to go with the carbiner but even using those the black paint is chipping in less than two weeks of actual use. I'm don't even wear my keys at work so the amount of use doesn't amount to the wear and tear that will inevitably happen. I would recommend this if you are okay with cosmetic issues or maybe spring for titanium if you can afford it. I sprung for this for usability but also half for the beautifully done aesthetics from the website. No regrets, just wished it would have looked nicer for longer given my usage.

The Madison looks really nice - perhaps the best looking carabiner keychain I have found. It functions well. Perhaps I should have gotten the titanium instead of aluminum because my aluminum one does take some minor scratches.
