Some locking mechanisms can be difficult to figure out, as they aren't visually intuitive. Not so with a button lock. It's straightforward to understand how a button lock functions, and the design is easy to operate with one hand. The placement of the button keeps your fingers a fair distance away from the business side of your blade. Button locks are praised for their intuitive design, ease of use and solid lock-up. It's the most straight-forward of the modern locking mechanisms.

Of all of the amazing steels out there, Magnacut remains one of our very favorite and most requested.  The MagnaCut blade of The Wells combines the corrosion-resistance of a traditional stainless steel with the unparalleled toughness of traditional high carbon steels. The bottom line is that it’s an amazingly well-balanced steel for your daily carry blade. Our MagnaCut is heat-treated to 63 HRC, and has been signed off by Dr. Larrin Thomas himself. 

The Wells is available in 2 colors: anodized aluminum with a stonewashed blade, or in a blacked out option with a DLC-coated blade. The quantities are limited, so get in on the Wells while you can.

The Wells

Very well made plunge (button) lock knife with magnacut steel sheepsfoot blade and aluminum frame. The button is inset and when depressed it plunges just the right amount for perfect drop shut action. You cannot overpress this button, which is a nice feature. The button can be a little hard to find at first but once you locate it a few times you're good to go. As is my experience with the James Brand this is a well made tool that is sophisticated and simple and looks and performs awesome. It came very sharp out of the box, sharper than most other brands. I'm pretty sure the OEM is Protech which is also great news. This will last a lifetime.

Great job James Brand keep up the excellent work!

A solid knife

I like it. I prefer a back flipper and like that James made this knife. It's heavy and a little thick but feels good in the hand. I don't care for the lock button, it's too small, difficult to press with fat fingers, and I wonder what will happen if I happened to slice an apple or something like that and get something sticky in the mechanism. Aside from that, good knife.

Gorgeous.

Bought it in black/black; it's a beautiful finish, really happy to support US-made great design. Super comfortable in hand, I actually expected it to be smaller. Only real dings are that the blade is not sharp out of the box (NBD, since I sharpen everything anyway), and that the clip isn't just an optional/delete feature.

Overall, beautiful.
