Form and Function.

The Carter features slide-lock technology, a first for us here at TJB. The slide-lock is secure, easy to understand and ambidextrous. It’s designed for use with one hand, and has been a staple mechanism of everyday carry knives for a long time.

Designed & Made Better

The VG-10 stainless steel blade has great edge-retention and corrosion resistance. VG-10 was designed to handle the abuse of the culinary world, but because of its amazing characteristics, it’s found a home in the world of everyday carry. The Carter is available with G10 scales or in natural Micarta; both are fully sculpted and feel amazing in hand. The opening style uses a symmetrical thumb-disc on top of the blade, making for easy, affirmative one-handed opening. The deep-carry pocket clip is our deepest ever. It’s easily reversible (using a Torx T6, not included).

The Carter is available in regular and XL sizes, so it will fit hands and jobs of all sizes. If you are looking for something that is discreet and rides easily in any pocket all day, stick with the standard Carter. If you've got bigger hands, and need a full-size knife for hardcore work day in and day out, the Carter XL is for you.

Great knife!

It's the intangibles that separate knives made with care from mass-produced mall blades. This was my first James purchase, and I while my expectations were high they were actually exceeded. Yes, the fit, finish, and attention to detail are excellent. But what struck me the first time I opened it was the smoothness and lack of friction on the blade. It was buttery but not loose, precise but not stiff. The small design cues, use of color and texture - all above average in my experience. It's a pleasure to hold and use, and oozes quality. I'll be back for more.

Great little folder

I was never able to get the Carryology version. I opted for the black and rose gold just to be different. I gotta say I’m glad I did, this little guy just hits different. It looks cool, great size for carry, the actions slick, and it’s sharp as hell. Glad I got it. Thanks, Steve.

Love the Carter, my first James Brand product

The Instagram algo strikes again. I was just thinking about a new knife and next thing I know I see a James Brand ad on the 'gram.
