The Classic Pocket Tool Reimagined.

The Helton is the result of years of design and engineering refinement—a slim, lockable multitool built from premium materials, with no plastic in sight. We included only the tools you’ll actually use: a partially serrated VG-10 blade, two magnetic drivers, chisel-tipped tweezers, and various carry methods like a pocket clip or a lanyard and bead. Thinner than a pack of gum, comfortable in the pocket, and made to last, the Helton elevates a traditional form into something entirely new: durable, customizable, and ready for everyday life.

Less Is More
With the Helton, we ditched the tools you don’t need in favor of the eight tools you really do, day in and day out. The result is the most functional and best-looking multi-tool you’ve ever seen, in a package that’s still slimmer than a pack of gum.
Have It Your Way
The Helton is designed to be customized. Use the pocket clip if you so desire, or use the included lanyard and bead, or nothing at all. The world is your oyster.
Lock It Up! Lock It Up!
Every tool on the Helton locks, meaning no more slicing your fingers or smashing your knuckles when tools fold up on you when you least expect them to.

Familiar Form, Elevated In Every Way.

Some knives are about tradition. Some are about innovation. The Helton is about both. We started with one of the most widely used knife formats in history—something everyone knows—and asked what it would take to make it better. That meant careful editing: which tools do people actually use? Which materials would make it last a lifetime? Could we bring our clean, modern design language to a silhouette that hadn’t changed in decades? The challenge was real, but so was the opportunity.

Every Detail Considered

Minimal Form, Maximum Complexity.

Good things take time. Good design takes much more—three years, in this case. What appears simple at first glance is anything but. The Helton is a study in restraint, where every line, edge, and interaction has been considered and resolved. It’s a streamlined multitool that feels intuitive and effortless in hand, yet carries a depth of complexity just beneath the surface—proof that the simplest objects are often the hardest to get right.

Lock In.

Every tool on the Helton locks, meaning no more slicing your fingers or smashing your knuckles when tools fold up on you when you least expect them to.

Have It Your Way.

The Helton is designed to be customized. Use the pocket clip if you so desire, or use the included lanyard and bead, or nothing at all.

Designed Better.

The Helton is the result of years of design and refinement, building on the language of the Ellis and Elko. Every millimeter and mechanism was developed with purpose, shaped through countless rounds of prototyping and testing to achieve the right balance of functionality, ergonomics, and durability. The result is an incredibly slim, lockable multitool made entirely from premium materials—no plastic in sight—with only the tools you actually use. Built to last, the Helton reimagines a traditional form into something more refined, customizable, and ready for everyday life.

    Gentleman’s EDC

This is my first James Brand purchase. While it’s not a rugged garage workhorse, it is an excellent gentleman’s EDC for the opera, church, running errands, or casual public outings.

The ergonomics are comfortable, though I expected a slightly higher level of refinement at this price point. Tool performance is generally solid, except for the file—it feels like composite rather than metal, couldn't handle a simple fingernail, and lacks durability. I still rely on my keychain Victorinox for that. That aside, I will be keeping it.

If you complain about James Brand pricing, this knife isn't meant for you. But if you don't mind the premium cost for a sleek, light-duty EDC, you'll be happy with it.

(Hand size context: XXL hands, small finger length, size 15.5 ring finger)

    Excellent Pocket Knife and Tool

I have many pocket knives/tools going way back to my first 60-year old BSA pocket knife, numerous Swiss Army knives and now the latest James Brand Helton. I like them all, but the Helton is now my favorite with just the right number of tools and the highest quality build. I am very impressed by the precision and design that went into building the Helton.

    Perfect EDC Tool

It’s a stylish piece. I didn’t know if I’d like the color but it has grown on me. I like that all the tools have frame locks. It’s got everything I need. Doesn’t take up much room in my pocket. I love the pick. Compares well with the Victorinox equivalent. Would buy again and highly recommend.

    EDC Jewelry

Got the Grove from the second drop and did a preliminary review a month ago. Carry it in a nice open top leather sheath with a belt / pocket clip in order to have both pick and tweezers aboard.

But the Butter version was impossible to resist. It is EDC jewelry - Mughal tier. The highly polished stainless pocket clip looks too good to remove so the pick is installed for the red Clovis point branding. The sweet little lanyard is installed although it isn't really practical for me. As others mention, the tool is heavy for its size and can be easy to drop when manipulating so a proper lanyard is a big help. On the Grove I substituted the green lanyard from the Redstone and a 3mm stainless bead which IMO is just the right size for actual use.

After some practice I am able to gradually open and close all the tools one handed (easier to do when the clip is not attached). It's no "flipper" of course but it can be done if needed.

Locking the scissors in place is a two step process. They must be opened slightly before they can be fully extended and locked in place. This seems to be a safety feature rather than a design gaffe. The spring is quite strong for the size so I have experimented with adjusting my grip placement on the scissors and angle of attack depending on what is being cut.

The steel pick is a "tooth" pick only for emergency situations. But it has a number of other uses including as a mini marlin spike for smaller lines and para cord.

The file can be used to groom…
