Working with Arto Saari to Strengthen Local Communities.

Giving back is very important to us at TJB, and we’ve been giving back to the communities we are connected to since our earliest days. For our 7th annual Make It Better campaign, we asked Arto Saari where he would like to make a change. He came up with an idea that would support youth and the community he now calls Ohana.

For Giving Week, we will give 10% of our sales (not profit) to Kahuku Elementary School on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Kahuku Elementary School is a charming plantation-style school inspired by the sugar cane farming era, located on the northeast shore of Oahu's Windward coastline. Kahuku Elementary School lost its former art teacher suddenly at the beginning of the 2024 school year. A few weeks into the instructional year, Keale Comstock, a North Shore VLand surfer, was referred to as a potential hire because of his love for the arts and children. With minimal experience and fewer supplies, Keale eagerly accepted the position and has since found a new love for teaching the arts as a lifelong career.

Supporting Education & Art.

Arto knows personally the impact that art and creative acts can have on a person; he’s been living this way since his earliest days, and this is one of the things that makes his life so interesting to us and to others. We are going to support the school and its art and creative programs in an effort to expose the children to the power of the creative act, the fact that you can (and should) make your own reality.

We’re proud to work with Arto and the Kahuku Elementary community. From December 3rd at 12:01 AM to Friday, December 6th at 11:59 PM PST, we will donate 10% of our net proceeds from thejamesbrand.com sales to help fund Mr.Comstock’s art education program. Please join us in this effort.

Thank you for helping us make it better. Giving back to the communities and the people that we are connected to has been an important part of our mission since our founding, and we appreciate the partnership of our customers (like you) in helping to make the world better.
