The Burwell is our second click pen, following the launch of our Benton, back in 2016. Featuring a stainless steel barrel in an EDC-friendly diameter, the Burwell slips easily into your pocket for daily carry, but won’t bend or break, keeping your pockets ink free. It will quickly become the pen you reach for again and again, day in and day out.
We’ve doubled down on the Communication category with a handful of new products, including the Gatecliff notebook sleeve, the Burwell click pen and a new version of our Stilwell two-part compact pen, and a new 3-pack of TJB notebooks.
With its buttery smooth clicker, the Burwell gives you one-handed operation in all situations. A machined-in dot pattern assures positive control, even in wet or slippery conditions. The metal-injection-molded (MIM) clip provides positive retention, but makes it easy to deploy from your pocket.
The Burwell uses standard Parker-style G2 refills (available at TJB.com) so you can choose from a nearly endless variety of refills. Find the nib, ink color and type that fits your needs, and make the Burwell your own.
The Burwell is available in a raw stainless finish for the purists in the group, and also in a matte black PVD finish, so you can choose your poison.

The Burwell is a sold weight pen with a good click and a nice balance. The grip is unique with reverse dots rather than a traditional knurl. The ink it comes with is good, traditional and not spectacular, but it does write well. It’s a good solid pan body what will stand the test of time.
I make my living writing things down on the flight deck of a 747. Ok, I'm a bit of a pen geek but part of that is when I need to write something down I don't have time to scribble to make the ink flow. It has to work. It also has to slide in and out of my uniform pocket effortlessly, needs to remain in that pocket without falling out, clicker has to be solid and when I hold the pen it needs to feel like quality. Space pen preceded this one, I like this far better. Enough that I have two now. One has the original G2 and the other has a Jetstream. Honestly the James G2 holds its own. I can't decide which I like better. Well done James. I have the rose gold and the silver versions and both are awesome.
As soon as this pen arrived I noticed the same theme with The James Brand, very nice presentation. When I took it out of the case I noticed great looks and feel. I immediatly began writting in the field notebook. This pen is smooth, the ink shares over to the page in even consistent lines. It feels great in the hand and is perfectly textured for non fatigue grip. The clicker is smooth and very satisfying with a softer as opposed to crisper sounding click. I have the all black varient and really like the green navagational degrees circle that The James Brand has implemented at the top of the clicker. A winner for sure which will last a lifetime and will get lots of use!
Very well built, you can feel it while using. This is one tuff pen. It definitely exceeded my expectations.
I really wanted to like these, but have been disappointed as the click mechanism is inconsistent in both of the pens I’ve received. In each case, the pen will extend when clicked however typically takes 3-5 clicks to allow it to retract. Kudos to James Brand customer service as they sent me a replacement the first time this occurred, but unfortunately it has continued with the second. The overall weight and look of the pen is excellent, but the mechanism appears to need a little work.
