Made the Hard Way
Acetate isn't easy to work with. It's a material that we've experimented with for a long time, but we needed to find a partner who was an expert. We approached our friends at RAEN, who have a long history of working with acetate, to see if they could help us out. Before too long, it was obvious that we needed to do a collaboration, as we share a lot of the same values, and eyewear is clearly an essential part of many people's everyday carry.
Both the Elko pocket knife and the Wiley sunglasses feature a proprietary tortoise acetate, cut from a single sheet and made by hand. RAEN has a strong reputation for effectively using acetate since its inception, but acetate is relatively new in the EDC world. The rich material has a great feel and look, making it the perfect basis for this collaboration.
